F. Internet-enabled

Built to take advantage of the Internet and corporate intranets, HP's desktop and software management solution can separate software distribution from software installation, allowing an organization to take a "publish and subscribe" approach to application updates. Users are classified by type, and installation can be achieved by using both "push" and "pull" approaches. This classification of users enables the desktop and software management solution to use Internet technologies such as Webcasting to deliver software in multiple ways.

Users who want automatic installation can send a profile to IT and the solution will "push" the software to their desktops as needed. For users who like more control over their desktops or who regularly use complex applications, an IT organization can publish the fact that a new application or piece of information is available and give users a location to get the software. HP intends to add additional Internet technologies as they become available for secure business-critical use.
