10.00am Managing Multiple Systems - David Ledger, IVD Computing Services
A technique for saving, updating, managing and displaying system and configuration data from a mixed network of Unix hosts (as seen in PING!).
11.00am Coffee
11.15am Webmin - The Open Source SysAdmin Tool - Steve Boniwell, ABSI Consultants
This presentation is designed to give a brief introduction to the latest version of Webmin. This freely available application is designed to allow system administrators to use a well designed graphical interface to administer a wide range of UNIX systems over both local and extended networks. As it can be used in a secure mode over the Internet, it opens up the possibility for inexpensive remote administration for complex environments.
12.15am HP-UX System Performance Tools - Ashley Shepherd, Intelligent Solutions
There are three major disciplines of Performance Management, Trend Analysis and Capacity Planning. None of us plan to fail, but we often fail to plan. This presentation is designed to help you understand the benefits of implementing these disciplines in an HP-UX environment and gaining benefits from them.
1.00pm Lunch
1.45pm Caliper: Performance Profiling and Measurement Tool for Itanium - David Goodman, HP
HP Caliper is a general-purpose performance analysis tool for applications on Itanium-based HP-UX systems, which allows you to understand the performance of your program and to identify ways to improve its run-time performance. HP Caliper works with any Itanium-based binary and does not require your applications to have any special preparation to enable performance measurement.
2.30pm Tea
2.45pm HP-UX System Administration Futures - Ian Henderson, HP
There is likely to be some change in this area as we move towards a single Itanium platform. This will be a presentation of what we are likely to do across various operating systems.
3.30pm Close
| The HP/Works Annual General Meeting will follow at the end of the day. We would welcome any HP/Works members who are able to stay for this. There is a most important motion concerning the merger of the UK HP User Groups to debate. |
